Laura Vargas Llanas is a Seville-based artist working under the creative name of Kanica. A collection of hand-embroidered fibre artworks and decorative pieces that are influenced by Modern Art, the Bauhaus Movement and mid-century design. In her work, Laura embraces and revisits artisanal techniques with a strong design aesthetic.

She graduated from The American University of Paris and Christie’s Education London with a degree in History of Modern and Contemporary Art and has worked in the art industry for many year before launching Kanica in 2018. Laura is currently represented by Partnership Editions London, Modern Art Hire and Wilo & Grove Gallery in Paris, and regularly collaborates with Paul Smith Design, Pentreath & Hall, and Art for Charity Collective, as well as working closely on bespoke commissions with renowned international interior designers.
