Laura Vargas Llanas is the creative force behind KANICA, a collection of handcrafted and limited edition fibre pieces

Revisiting traditional weaving techniques and influenced by the likes of Anni Albers, Agnes Martin, Mark Rothko and Morris Louis, her creations are a hybrid of abstraction, color field painting and minimalism   |    Working primarily with yarn - merino, alpaca and cotton - her weavings are almost like paintings, fusing artisanal skills with geometric compositions, in pursuit of balance and harmony

Laura currently lives and works between Madrid and Paris   |   She has a Bachelor’s degree in History of Art and a Master’s degree in Modern and Contemporary Art   |   She has previously worked at Christie’s, Carpenters Workshop Gallery and Il Cigno GG Edizioni
